Poetry Workshop - Questions for the Self: Using Found Text with Victoria Newton Ford

Description: "What are the words you do not have yet? What do you need to say?" In this virtual, generative poetry workshop, we will use The Audre Lorde Questionnaire to Oneself as a springboard for self-exploration—excavating contradictions, dreams, politics, and our belief in creating new worlds through language. Through examining the work of writers such as Lorde, Ama Codjoe, Solmaz Sharif, and more, we will explore how they use found text—from newspaper headlines to quotes to dictionary definitions—to challenge the language that lives within us, confront inner truths, and to question the stories we tell ourselves. Participants will be invited to use found text as a way to investigate and reimagine their own inner landscapes.
